Pointe shoes do not come with straps or ribbons already sewn on them. You need to sew them on your own. There are all different size feet that is why it's not sewn in plus there are different ways that your dance teacher may want you to sew the elastic and ribbons onto the pointe shoe. I have the elastic cris crossed in front and in a loop of elastic on the back ankle so I can thread the ribbon and that my pointe shoes are on correctly and secured so they don't unravel or fall off. If this is your first time getting pointe shoes go to a dance shoppe to be fitted correctly.

Some dance stores will sew the elastics in for you after they measure your foot, usually for a small extra fee (5 bucks or so) Also, avoiding a deep vamp on your point shoes helps for a snugger fit (in my opinoin).
If this is your first time to buy pointe shoes, I would DEFINATELY NOT buy them online. Hope you find what you're looking for!

This is a great question I would actually like to know the same.

Shoot back when I was getting them you always had to sew all the ribbons and elastic on yourself.
