Do you mean the digits or the numbers 2, 4, 9? Digits, the largest is (of course) 942.
Using them as numbers and standard operations the largest 3-digit number I can get is 2^9 + 4 = 516.
If you allow factorial then (4 + 2)! + 9 = 729

All you have to do is arrange them in descending value for each digit, so the greatest number you can make with those digits would be 942 (since 9>4 and 4>2)
