would you rather buy a name brand wheel set (excel/talon) for 700 bucks each or an exact duplicate by a different company for 700 dollars for both front and rear with brake rotors?
why or why not?

I would rather get the brand name if I was upgrading/modifying but if I was replacing a damaged one and just needed it to get back up and riding again I would probably go for the other because I may get some use out of the extra parts at a time later on when I might not be able to afford it right away...And if you are racing it always helps to have spares like that....

If they were really an "exact" duplicate (quality, material, weight) why would you need a brand name?
If they're not exact duplicates, you get what you pay for (they might be worse then stock). Do a web search "that brand name wheel" and you might get some hits of bike forums that have used them.
I never understood why people upgrade their wheels on dirtbikes (sport bikes make sense). Are you getting any performance that's worth over $700? Tires make a big difference, but what do wheels give you?
