Hi , I had a water bed for years, and I always kept it at body temperature or slightly higher. I has a broken thermostat once in the Summer, and I thought it was O.K. because it was summer.
I nearly got hypothermia because the cold bed pulled so much of my body warmth out of me!
I am divorced now so I have a smaller bed but, I learned never let the temp go below 98* At least for MY safety!

If you maintain the temp at normal body temp you will be very uncomfortbale. Consider swimming in a 98 F pool. There is no standard temp.
One morning set it at the temp you maintain on the A/C thermostat, give it time to reach that temp, try that setting for a night adjusting as is comfortable to you.

Most people set it near their body temperature, plus or minus a couple of degrees depending on if they like a cooler bed or warmer bed.

i keep mine at 92 degrees f. in the warm months and 95 degrees in the cold months. i find that temp zone very comfortable and so has numerous people that have laid acrossed it(they fall to sleep quick). as for the person that thinks theyre bad for back quite contrar, the moist heat actually helps you to relax more.

I think that is a matter of comfort - but aren't those things bad for your back?
