quality car, new car is vastly improved of the previous model. Again quality is typical of mercedes. it may be very pricey but it will hold its value compared to other non german brands (except vauxhall). The safety aspect is exceptional because the engine is underneath the passenger area. inside the space is huge and deseptive from the outside as becasue engine is under, thus allowing larger interior space.
having said that, the a140 isn't a very fast model, but reliability, space, value, depreciation are good attributes to consider.

maybe the golf is another good option- car of the yr

Innovative, but over priced and poorly executed in places.
The "Elk" test denied it the decent ride and handling that it should have with wheels so close to the corners and such a wide track, while the earlier models (ones without a separate handle on the tailgate) had poor apparent quality due to the choice of materials in the interior.
The A140 will be underpowered compared to the A160, or the A170 CDI.

Depends what year. More recent models are vastly improved over the early versions, spec varies hugely too if you are buying second hand.
What you will find though is that the engine even for a small car such as this is underpowered.

Grossly over-priced, it's a supermini!! A car designed to take you to the shops and back again, that's it. Yet some cost more than an Audi A4, Ford Mondeo, BMW 3 series or an X-type Jag. You'd have to be out of your mind to buy one.

in case you choose tochronic, like i do, and want a motor vehicle that handles, decide for the BMW. in any different case the Mercedes. Mercedes is extra for luxury than a BMW however the BMW handles extra beneficial. so its your selection.

When you bought your house....
A/ Did you have `stone cladding` put on it ?
B/ Did you have large plastic butterflies put on it ?
C/ Did you `ave a hextension hadded hon ?

If you answered `yes` to any of the above, buy the bloody thing and we can all have a good laugh at your expense when we see it `up your drive `.

terrible car, not a proper merc, when it goes wrong absoloute pig to fix, eg to change starter u have to remove engine. So many better small cars and nearly all cheaper to run and maintain.
