The city has nothing to do with it. Airplanes are under the jurisdiction of the FAA, not of the city of New York or Chicago, and if I were to fly my Cessna through downtown Chicago, as long as I followed the FAA rules (there are some), the city of Chicago could not touch me. The airplane involved in today's incident was not being flown in accordance with FAA rules -- it was too low. Presumably it was trying to avoid an overcast, but under the circumstances it should have been on an IFR flight plan, and high enough to avoid obstructions.

Actually Chicago does allow planes to fly around the city. One of the largest airports in the country is right at the edge of the city. If a plane leaves it's flight plan there's not much that can be done about it immediately.

Because there are 5 airports that serve the greater NYC area and they are all in different areas. If you restricted the airspace over Manhattan, you would add a large amount of time to air travel, you'd use huge amounts of fuel, it would congest the approaches to the airports and generally cause more problems than it would cure. The number of air fatalities in this city due to airplanes accidently crashing is so small compared to the amount of flights that take place that it is barely a statistic.

We visited long island whilst our son replaced into 5 months previous. He did not must be in a motor vehicle seat on the airplane, I had a lap belt for the two him and me. We had a sky-cot to place him in (bulkhead seats and the cot clips into the wall in front of you). We flew from the united kingdom, so perhaps the guidelines are diverse. as quickly as we got here back, he replaced into 3 years previous and replaced into in his very own seat. Getting around long island - deffo do not advise using. you will get nowhere quickly and parking is ridiculous and extortionate. We walked exceedingly lots everywhere or took the subway. There are only approximately continuously stairs all the way down to the subway yet whilst soemone can elevate the front of the stroller up and then this is carried down, it is not that undesirable. Get an umbrella folding stroller on your son - he's important sufficient for it now and it is purely for the dimensions of your holiday. it's going to make it lots much less annoying in case you ought to enhance it up or fold it as much as get on the bus. We in no way used the bus or taxis, as each and every thing is interior strolling distance - from often happening Park all the way down to thirty fourth highway does not take that long. If we've been heading downtown (Statue of Liberty or South highway Seaport or the Village) we took the prepare. little you will stay in his stroller on the prepare. it is not as daunting as you think of this is going to be. there'll be activities the place you are able to ought to re-think of the thank you to get someplace, yet there'll continuously be a manner around the difficulty.

Hi. It appears as though the accident was caused by an inadvertent wing stall. Low experience may have been a factor. Outlawing ALL pilots because of the mistakes of a few seems pretty harsh. Sort of like outlawing car accidents.

Because they haven't learned a damn thing from 9-11. It was terrible what happened. Plus they have helipcopter tours too. I don't know why they allow it, but it is stupid.

Hey your talking about new yorkers now. Just kidding. No offense to New Yorkers. They probably haven't had a complaint or they haven't had enough complaints about it. That would be my guess.
