Lack of candor is a close cousin to "diminished insight."

Candor means truth, so "lack of candor" means someone was less than truthful, that they withheld information they should have supplied. If you neglected to tell an employer something that they listed as a condition of employment, they would have a right to terminate you. Check the employee manual.

You can't claim defamation of character unless the accusation was made public somehow. For example, if a boss called you into his office and fired you for lack of candor, that's not defamation; if he released a press statement or mass email about your dismissal and specificially stated that your lack of candor was the cause of termination, then you could claim that he has defamed your character.

Candor is basically honesty...Frankness, openness.

If a person lacks candor, it means they can't be honest and open, and therefore, they're not likely to be good employees.

I don't know that it's cause for termination, but certainly it could add up in the overall argument.

The only way it can qualify as defamation of character is if the company went out and published that information somewhere.

It's a lack of belief in the same sense as being wealthy is a lack of impoverishment. A lack is not always a bad thing, however semantically difficult to grasp that may be, for those whom are intellectually challenged.
