I'm 26 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I think my boyfriend wants to name him James Stott Jr. after him. That would be fine by me but here is the deal. My dad and my brother are both named James. I'm afraid if I name my baby James it will confuse him when he gets older because there are so many named James in the family. Any ideas?

Why not call him officially "Jimmy", not short for James but actually Jimmy. That will honor your husband but avoid adding to the confusion. You could also try some variations based on James like Jaime or Jameson or jago or Jamison.

Well, If it is really important to your husband (although I could never imagine wanting to be called a junior) you could name him James Scott Jr. (Was Stott a typing error?) but then just have the child go by his middle name. There hve been many people that do that. Or you could really go out in left field, and let him have his own identity. I vote for #2....

If you want to call him James Stott(or is it Scott?) Jr. then do it. It's not going to make any difference whether someone else in the family has that name or not because it's your choice. To keep him from getting confused you could always call him by his middle name or even call him Junior. It's your child so name him what you want. We want to name our child Alexzander and his uncle just named his son that, but we don't care. We like it and that's what we want to do.

If his name is James Scott Jr. then people will know he was named after his dad since the first and middle names are the same.

Here are some other names I like:

Jacob
Ryan
Dillon
Addison
Samuel
Rhys
Liam
Oliver
Isaac

If he's a JR then people will know the difference. Maybe you can call him Jr. instead of James. Or James Jr. And if people ask, because you know they will, tell them hello wake up hes a Jr. so hes named after his dad.

Give him a different name. Having the same name as others in the family is not only boring, but doesn't give the kid their own identity. Four James's in the family (Your dad, brother, the baby's father, and the baby)? That's too much.

You can name him James but call him Jamie. Or you can call him by his middle name. If you end up not naming him after your boyfriend then here are some good names to think about:
Antonio
Dominic
Yankee
Braeden-Riley
Yuri
Andon
Antoni
Jameson

Stick with James. That's a nice name and will certainly be flattering to the entire family. Wish I had a choice that easy to make.

1. Mordechai
2. Micah
3. Jedediah
4. Gregory
5. Brandon
6. Michael
They truly are awesome to me! Try one of those, and see what he thinks!
