Do you think 2 months for each is a fair time or do you think differently.... PLEASE HELP... it's for a project

8 weeks is a long time. What you might find interesting for your research, though, is what other countries outside of the US allow for family leave (fathers and mothers). It's fascinating to see how little the US regards families, for all of our talk about "family values" in this country.

6 months. 2 months before birth and 3 after (i know thats 5). working up till the point is a pretty broad generalization by a company that all woman are healthy enough to do so in such a delicate/stressful state-for themselves and the baby. with the rising number of complications 6 weeks leave hardly seems responsible. and time after, i guess thats open.

For disability, it depends on the disability. For maternity, 8 weeks is good. However, most employers in the U.S. are not concerned with their employees health situation. That's why most don't offer health insurance.
