Why do we "knock on wood"? Does it really help?

Is it really bad if a black cat crosses your path?

"Step on a crack, break your mother's back"?

Why do you leave your broom when you move to a new house?

Is walking under a ladder really bad luck?

Why is a lady bug on you good luck?

Is breaking a mirror really bad luck?

*just something to think about*

This is an explanation on Friday the 13th:
The Scandinavian's believed that the number 13 was unlucky due to the mythological 12 demigods being joined by a 13th, an evil one, who brought misfortune upon humans. It was also said that Christ was crucified on Friday and the number of guests at the party of the Last Supper was 13, with the 13th guest being Judas, the traitor.

*Just thought you might also like to know I was born two hours and twenty-eight minutes after October 13th (2:28 AM on October 14th).*

Not unless you're a friggatriskaidekaphobe, unless you're a Templar Knight.

The Templar nights were all rounded up and murdered on a Friday the 13th, because of the Catholic Church.

"The fear of Friday the 13th has one particular seed; the end of the Knights Templar on Friday, October 13, 1307. King Philip IV of France had them (the Knights Templar) arrested on this day. The Templar Knights were Knights who led exemplary lives under the church and were in charge of prosecuting the crusades. To make a long story short, they became rich and corrupt, and on this date, all of that corruption was ended. Bad luck therefore, became one with Friday the 13th from then on."

It's just a superstition. But it has some basis in fact.
One theory suggests that it's based on the number of people at the Last Supper - 13. Jesus was the 13th person & He died on a Friday.
I don't believe that Friday the13th is any more unlucky than any other day. I've had both good & bad luck on many other days besides.

One store in our area gives 13% off storewide.
Another is offering food items for 13cents each.
Any day could bring you bad luck, or good.
