If abortions were banned, they would still occur, just in unsanitary conditions (Ghettos etc) and both the mother and the baby would die. This would be killing 2 rather than 1.

At least they are way ahead of you. True, illegal abortions would happen and the conditions would be less than "professional". But the fact is, this industry is the most unregulated health industry in our history. Butchers get both patients all the time. Even so, if it were illegal, the occurance would be down for two reasons, first, because it was illegal, and secondly, it won't become illegal until the majority of Americans come to their senses in understanding that abortion kills innocent children.
Secondly, you know very little about stem cell research. There has already been extensive research into stem cell research. President Bush has put money towards that. In fact, there are about 80 different conditions that are showing positive signs. Oh yes, we are talking about stem cells from things like the umbilical cord.
Now, when you talk about stem cells from aborted babies, that research is 10 - 20 years away, if it shows anything. It needs big time funding because it is such a long shot. That's why private industry has stayed away from it. So in other words, if the Federal government would invest in this (like the Dems want), it would most likely be a huge money sink hole and provide job security for at least 20 years. Considering that a young life has to die for that cause, doesn't that make it rather gruesome?

Alzheimers and Diabetes both run in my family but I still oppose stem cell research. They have already proven they can progess with adult stem cells instead. As for abortion, mose por-lifers don't want it banned. We want restrictions for things such as the mother's life is in danger or rape. No reason for a person to get 10 abortions just becuase. That shows a lack of responsiblity and that's what we want changed.

I think its funny that whenever a republican canidate is asked "if your daughter came home pregnant, what would you do?" I never hear any of them come straight out and say abortion is not an option. The response is always, that is an issue that will be discussed in my family and is no one else's decision.

I am all for stem-cell research. Sometimes abortions are necessary, although adoption is a better idea.
The aborted fetuses could serve stem-cell and help many terminally ill people. They just don't care.

i am a Republican... and i believe that no one should get an abortion. My dad has very bad health, diabetes...is one of them...i know it can help to find a cure...but i do not want to take a child out of this world....there are so many people who want a child, who can't...i rather they give the child to someone who wants it.
