Have you been taking antacids or pepto bismal? Any type of medication with ferrous sulfate or iron in it, can make your stool turn black. Do you have any abdominal discomfort? Dark stool can be indicative of an upper GI bleed either from a bleeding ulcer or some where in the small intestines. Other symptoms can include increased fatigue, dizziness or dizziness upon standing from a sitting or lying position, shortness of breath when walking certain distances that would normally not make you winded. A quick little ER trick to determine if you are low in blood volume is to pull down your lower eye lid. In a healthy person, its pink or red. But on someone who is hypovolemic, their tissue exposed will be very pale bordering on white. Hope this helps
Good Luck

Black or tarry stools usually mean internal bleeding of some sort. If you are taking iron supplements, that can also turn the stool dark. You probably need a colonoscopy to make sure you don't have any internal bleeding or problems. Check with your doctor.

Could be internal bleeding, check with your doctor. Also think what you have been eating for the last three days.

First thing is usually if you've taken Pepto-Bismol lately.
If no - see a doctor.

Poor diet. Do you eat a lot of meat? That could do it. Add more fresh veggies.
