independance was important before the revolutionary war because we were under great britain rule and we were tired of doing what they told us to. That is why we had the revolutionary war...just google it if i am not helpful

Britian was imposing taxes and we had no freedom b/c of it. they raised the stamp act, sugar act, and the quartering act.
