oreck is the best if you can afford it .If your looking for something a little more cheaper in price try the panasonic.I clean homes for a living and a few of are customers have dysons they want us to use, we have ran into so many problems with them plugging up a few customers even told us they wish they would have bought something else..Oreck are more expensive but they last forever and pick up great and light weight.

Hands down - Dyson.

Have you seen the commercials? This thing seriously sucks (and of course that is a good thing with vacuums).

A good tip-off would be the ridiculously high price tag. Anything that expensive HAS to be good.

i use a Eureka model that is bagless and has a hepa filter and it works real well. The cost was around 120.00 at Sears. If you go with a bagless make sure you clean the filter in the cup or else you could burn up your vac. It's easy, just run under water.

any thing that sucks will work. some cheap models are better than expensive ones. I would check to see how much trouble it is to change the belts. Some models require taking six or more screws out, avoid these

Read Consumer Reports, to get the best rating; I would go bagless, all dust & dirt is colllected where you can see it, hepa filters and all, when done using clean the under side of the vacum, for hair, carpet fibers...

If money is no object, get a Dyson. It is supposed to be the best there is.

Otherwise, Hoover makes pretty good, reliable models.
