I think you need to seperate both of them and do a pros and cons on both and see what your result is.

Salary is based on skill, and the more rare the skill, the higher the pay rate. Unfair though it may be, there are far fewer people who can throw a 100 mph fastball lefthanded than a finding a doctor who practices family medicine, or for that matter, even finding a doctor who can perform brain surgery. Education and intelligence, while certainly helpful in achieving financial success, certainly don't guarantee it.

Good question, but why do you ask?
Are you considering training long hours, draining your body and mind to play professionally for 10 - 15 years only to end up with no genuine marketable business skill and a lifestyle you are unable to support for the rest of your life at the young age of 35?
Or are you considering sacrificing 10-20 years of your life to obtain the knowledge and skill to hone a craft that will pay intrinsic and extrinsic dividends for the rest of your life?
Just wanted to know...

The average salary of a GP is 100,000 ounds a year.
That strikes me as a pretty large sum of money.
Few athletes earn very much, and most have to scrounge about for money to take part in competitions.

No i don't think that athletes should get paid more because if they get hurt who do they go to? The doctor so the doctors should get paid more because it's them who do all the mending when players get hurt.

The doctors provide help, athleates provide entertainment....we can live without sports. doctors are a value to socity, i love sports, but still, its unfair. Sports players are doing something they love, givin most doctors do too but still, you cant really kill anyone in sports.
