The last time the Republicans lost control of the House and Senate as a result of the McCarthy hearings on Communism, during the 1950s. Do you think that Bush, by making America afraid in a similar ways, may have created the same environment that will lead to the lost of control of both houses? This is not to say that the Democrats are a better a choice, just that the Republicans may not survive this challenge.

As a staunch conservative, I believe GWB has damaged the party by dividing the party. His unwillingness to address the immigration problem, along with his inability to do anything meaningful regarding North Korea and Iran is a disaster. The one thing the republicans have going for them is that they will come out to vote in droves anyway. Unlike democrats who rely on young people to vote, republicans will vote just to keep democrats out of office.Young people have notoriously short attention spans and therefore it is foolhardy to count on them to vote in mass. Look back to 2004 to see what I mean. The democrats where trumpeting the registering of millions of new voters who were supposed to vote democratic. Didn't happen. If the democrats don't take control of at least the House of Representatives in 2006, I fear that the democrats will cease to have any influence on government. Even being a republican, I would hate to see this because as the old adage goes, "Power corrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutely". There is an old Chinese curse that goes something like "may you live in interesting times", I'm afraid that we live in very interesting times.

WELL one does not have to worry about a change do we? Since Republicans plan to steal yet another election in 2006 is STILL ALIVE AND WELL.
The process of democratic voter purgeing has already been done to 1.2 million democrates this month in Ohio. Rumor has it that the same thing has been done to 4 other deciding states.

no, The Republicans will not lose either house for one reason and one reason only: Democrats.
the majority of the population of American are Conservative and no matter how upset they are with the Republicans they will stick with them because, the last time they punished Republicans was in 93 and they got 8 years of the Clintons. And you can bet that they don't want to see that again.

The way things are going politically in the US, I would say we are moving toward a one-party police state really soon... Fear is the one driver that will lead Americans to give up their civil rights willingly. Makes you think, doesn't it?
