If you are looking for a starter bike I wouldn't go straight into a 600. Do you have any experience on a bike??? Unless you are super model tall you will more than likely have to have a crotch rocket lowered . My husband's Yamaha YZF600R is an all around great bike but I can't sit on it and have my feet touch comfortable on the ground(tip toe, which is not safe) and I am 5'5. If you dont have any experience see if any of your friends have a dirt bike you can get used too(get the feel of being on 2 wheels) also some places offer motorcycle classes(teach you how to ride, saftey, etc.) this helps too when you go to get your licence. Also check with your local laws on how long you have to carry your learners. Go to your local bike shop, see what they have, what they recommend, and sit on the ones you like and see what fits you and what you are comfortable on.

you can usually find a good cheap beat up bike to start out on. Something like a cuiser, not a crotch rocket. These come really cheap, if you look for a good deal you can usually find one for around $200. Get used to riding on this for a month or two while you shop for a starter crotch rocket. You've got the right idea starting out with a 600cc bike. I'd say look for a good used cbr or gsxr.

Buell Blast..... not exactly a crotch rocket. 500 cc . it is an awesome starter bike. Buell is the sport division of Harley Davidson. They make some really incredible bike. The blast is specifically designed for beginners. After you ride this for a little bit and are comfortable on it, a full blown crotch rocket will be fine. Also... i strongly suggest looking used. Since you will not own it for very long it will be alot cheaper, easier, and look at it this way... someone else already broke it in for you.

I would suggest a Suzuki SV650. This is a bullett proof bike, with enough power to have fun. It is the starter bike of choice for many. A typical Crotch Rocket is way too sensitive for to start with. Take a R6 or CBR600RR for example both with way over 100HP and a powerband that's way up there.

As a starter you want to learn how to ride and for that purpose the SV650 is hard to beat. Then some 1000s of miles down the road, you can always upgrade.

If you get a 600 crotch rocket as a beginner, make sure your parents are on your insurance policy, tell them to go ahead and buy that new car, they'll have the money soon enough to pay for it.

Start with something a lot tamer. Half of all bike wrecks are from people who are under qualified for the bike they're on.

A crotch rocket is not a good starter bike.

Get a used Buell Blast on Ebay. It has the looks of the crotch rocket, but supposedly more upright riding position and easier for learning. 500cc.
