It sad to see someone pass away like this, but this is what life takes you, to unpredictable situation where there's no control of what goes on. Lidle wasn't a superstar in the people's eye, but he was a player who day in and day out went to the mound and pitch his heart out to lead his team to victory, whether it was the A's, Devil Rays, Mets, Phillies, Yankees, or any other team that took a chance on him. He had people in the baseball circle, so it's really hard to swallow this tragic loss and at this time, when the Yankees were in turmoil over where there going to fire Joe Torre or trade A-Rod over their early exit in the playoffs (and when the quest for the World Series continues). All of those matter took a backseat today to what happen, when baseball doesn't matter anymore, when a person loses his life to an unfortunate situation reminiscence of 9/11, only except this was an accident. Although I'm not a Yankees fan of any, you still have to feel for this person who touch the heart of many in the baseball community, whether you met him or not. Even though I never met him or that he never played for a So Cal baseball team like the Dodgers or Angels, I will miss him, as of many will in this unfortunate situation, and I give my greatest condolences to the Lidle family, especially his wife Melanie and his son, Christopher.

I'm not even a baseball fan, but this news is of course very tragic. I can't even imagine what his wife and family are going through right now. And he has a little child too :-\
At this point, no one should be blaming Detroit for why Cory died. It was a very tragic accident. Yes, maybe if the Yankees were still in, then he wouldn't have had time to be flying a plane. But like many others have said, maybe not. When that higher power decides when it's your time to be physically gone from earth, then it is your time.
God Bless You Cory!

It's a tragedy well beyond baseball, and impacting the victims, and their families and friends.
Having said that, Corey Lidle is known to me because I am a baseball fan. I think that you described him fairly as a pitcher. He was known as a journeyman, but a good, solid professional who did not have great physical skills, but used his mind and his heart to propel him to a solid major league career. And, by all indications, he was well-liked, and a bright, interesting, outspoken man.

It's really tragic and I guess it'll be hard on his family and his team. I may not be a Yankees fan but it's just really sad.

This was a very tragic death and hope his family and friends are OK... and for realistic human,he only had his license for about 1 year and no one knows if he actually piloted the plane
and it could have been manufacturing/maintenance errors so just shut up
