1. Attendance at all Senate meetings – Second Tuesday of every month 7:30am to 9:30am.
2. Active participation on at least one of the Senate’s standing committees (2 hrs/month)
3. Provide communication via email about Senate matters to constituents in your academic unit
4. Solicit input from constituents for use in Senate deliberations
5. Serve as part of your unit’s nominating committee for positions on the FPPC and for Faculty Senate elections
6. Ensure your unit’s representation at Senate meetings by arranging for an alternate to replace you if are unable to attend a Senate meeting (see below]
7. Represent your constituents in Senate deliberations
8. Senators in the second years of the two-year term serve as the lead or senior Senators to coordinate the academic unit delegation to the Senate. This coordination is to prepare any reports requested by the Senate and to take the lead on soliciting information from constituents and to solicit nominations for the next year’s election of Senators from the academic unit

You'd never know by the actions of some senators who think they have gotten on the free ride of all time, but their job is to represent the people of their state. It is not to take money from lobbyists, go on free trips, or accept gratutities from anyone and everyone.
