I used to play the violin, and sometimes when I went to the E string, I noticed I'd press lightly with my bow. I'm sure you've tried applying just as much pressure to that string as you do the others? Don't be afraid to really bring the bow down, Also make sure your fingers are pressed hard on the string. Other than that- use more resin, tighten your bow, tune your string....does that help?

If not you may need a new string.

It might be that your string is dirty. Try wipping it off and if that doesn't work you may not have enough rosin on your bow. good luck.
