i have acolombian cat fish in my 55 gallon tank
is it true that its a bad choice to keep them?
they said that when they get oldr they need brattish water

They get pretty big, might want to keep an eye out for a 75 gallon in the future. Just make sure you have good filtration on the tank. Here's a few sites to browse around.

brackish water is just that, just like fresh is fresh and salt is salt!
