Fine steel wool will work to shine them up, a wetstone, or a knife sharpener will work for the blade edge.

Chrome and Stainless Steel
Flour: Simply dip a soft cloth into ordinary white flour and rub the object until it shines.

Vinegar: Wipe with a soft cloth dipped in undiluted vinegar.

do sharpen them unless you have a sheath, its not safe. Use metal glo polish to buff and shine them
