OK, the problem is whenever I hit the space bar to type in a new word (for a sentence) a dot appears between the words. When i start a new paragraph a paragraph symbol shows up at the end of the paragraph. And this continues through all of my document, even when i start a new document.
What do I do just to type something in regularly without having to see dots between all the words and paragraph symbols after every paragraph?

Please! it is driving me crazy and this paper i am working on is due tomorrow and i cant even work on it because i am obsessed with trying to get rid of those dots and paragraph symbols!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You are a life saver, and a computer saver because I was about to launch it across my room.

You need to hide the non-printing characters.
Mac version instructions are below.

On either Mac or PC version there is a toolbar icon which is almost a backwards "P" - click this once to hide the non-printing characters.

If you have Windows, search the help for "Hide Non-printing characters" and it will tell you where the option is located.

Show or hide nonprinting characters (Mac version)
1. On the Word menu, click Preferences, and then click View.
2. Under Nonprinting characters, select the check boxes next to the characters you want to display.

Hey...All that has happened is you have turned on Show/Hide. There is a toolbar button over the Right but to the left of your Zoom level (100%)...It is just a paragraph symbol...Simply click that....you can also use the keystrokes, CONTROL+SHIFT+8

Also u can try this...If dots still appear, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the View tab. Under Formatting marks, clear the Spaces check box.

Hope this helps

In word go to the menu and select Tools>Options and click on the View tab. Uncheck any items in the formatting marks section.

Deep cleansing breaths and good luck on the paper.
