It has something to do with a car dehumanising a person.
Think about walking about a busy city centre, people always make way for each other and seldom bump into each other. Put a car shell between you and others they become dehumanised.
Therefore drivers don't recognise the person just the car.
It perception...

In a city, when someone becomes upset, ignore them. IF you caused the problem, mouth "I'm sorry". Most people will accept an apology. DO NOT react with aggressiveness....that might get you killed. When I am out on the interstate or other fast track roads I watch the traffic. When a large group of cars catch to me I let them ALL get passed and then I will run between the groups. If you will notice, on an interstate there will be groups of cars running together. Stay out of those groups. Let them go on and do their own thing. Get in between the groups and you will be a LOT safer and also away for 99% of the road rage. Good luck. Pops

You admit to road rage and still ask why? Its because we imagine everyone knows how important we are and must let us do what we think is right because of our importance. Try driving with a smile on your face and going less then the limit. not a lot less, just a couple miles under that maximum posted. I remember having to walk the distance I now cover in a few minutes and refuse to be intimidated by the thought that anybody deserves to go faster, then road rage comes into its real perspective. Only the insane ignore posted maximum limits. Do you really want an insane world?

I get a little road rage due to the number of stupid & inconsiderate drivers on the road....I get really annoyed when people cut across me causing me to nearly hit them or expect me to drive my car into a wall cos they wont allow me enough space to pass (or enough space to move back to a wider part of the road so they can pass)

People in general are more angry than they were a hundred years ago. It's because we have so much leisure time now we can think about how screwed up we are as a people. When people worked 12 hours a day or more they didn't have time to think.

I get aggressive because people are extremely rude. They won't let you in, won't let you pass, go too slow. or ride your ***. If more people were polite on the road I think I would be more polite too.

Selfishness...in my opinion, agressive drivers feel like they are the only ones that matter on the road. If every driver was as curteous as u are, it would help with traffic congestion and theoretically curb road rage.

i see what your saying maybee human nature or the caveman effect we see the road as our property and we right and everyone else is wrong. Just a shame we cant club some drivers like a caveman would.
