The US is not a democracy. It is a Republic.
Even I know that, and I am in Poland.

The US is not now, and never has been, a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

The founders established specific controls to keep the new nation from becoming a pure democracy, which they considered to be "mob rule".
