a statistican fro the civil aeronautics bard whatn to be able to predict the freight charge for a standard-sized crate. the statistician takes a sample of 10 freight invoices from different companies. let d represent the distance in miles and let c represent the freight charge in dollars. make a scatter plot of the data below. describe the correlation. then find an equation for the least-squares line.
d= 500, 600, 900, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1500, 1700, 2200
c= 41, 55, 50, 70, 60, 78, 75,89, 105


i got the correlation and the scatter plot but i need help with the least-squares equation.

If you're using a TI 83 or 84, you can put your numbers in two lists. Make sure you put them in the correct order.

Then go to STAT, CALC, 4:LINREG(ax+b) hit your enter key.

Your screen will have LinReg(ax+b)
You put in L1,L2 or whatever your lists are and hit enter. The screen will have y = ax + b and tell you what a and b are.

If you don't use a graphing calculator, I'm not sure what to do. You might check your text book to see what it recommends.

y = .035x + 26.127
