You don't have to just "deal with it, it is a normal part of life"!!

During this time you have major changes in hormones, blood flow. Your body has gotten ready to support a new baby and it has to change back out of this mode.

Yes, taking Midol, ibuprophen, and also daily calcium helps.

But the biggest thing is that your INTESTINES are dehydrated during this time due to the fluid shifts/blood flow. Treat this with Citracel daily according to the instructions, and Docusate daily according to instructions (daily means everyday of the month.) Daily Flax seed/oil capsules help in conroling amount of blood flow also.

I was one of those girls in high school who missed days of school due to severe pain and throwing up. It did get a bit better after kids, but the Citracel and Docusate made the world of difference, and now the only pain I have is a headache.

Medical examination is a must.

Everyone's period is a little different. Anything between 5-7 days is considered a normal period. Also, cramps can be very painful. Try drinking a lot of water regularly , and walking. Sitting around causes cramps to be worse because it causes the blood to clot more. However, depending on the pain, it might not be a bad idea to speak w/ your dr. about this as there are some illnesses such as indometriosis which also cause very bad cramps. I hope this helps. God Bless.

Yes, I do too. It's the surge if hormones. I usually take a pain med like Midol and then use a heating pad ThermaCare Menstral Heat Wraps (they last for 8 hours so I sleep like a baby). You can also try taking ibuprophen a day or two before your period.

Cramps are completely normal during menstruation. Especially the first couple of days. They vary in pain from woman to woman. The reason you get such bad cramps is becuase your uterus is contracting to push out the unwanted tissue and unfertilized egg. I know it sounds odd, but its true. You are just experiencing mild muscle contractions to help empty your uterus. If cramps are seriously weighing you down, you might want to go to a doctor and get a prescription for menstrual pain. Works wonders!

yes it is, for a lot of women. MIDOL NEVER HELPED ME. i actually used to crawl on the floor until i cried myself to sleep, then my doctor put me on birth control when i was 16 or 17 i believe, to make the cramps less agonizing. before i was on that, i used to drink a hot cup of tea, take 2 aleve, and lay on my stomach in bed with a heating pad underneath me. i would sleep for HOURS

Just part of life.

Not to be mean, but you better get use to it because you have to deal with it for a long time.

Maybe someone will give you some suggestions to lesser the pain.

Cramping is your uterus' way of pushing out the lining of the uterus and the egg that you ovulated. The cramping gets it going and then stops and the material flows out.
