Dear Tom,
I am happy you asked this question because there are alot of things that hold constingency into your answer. I am assuming that you mean the people from the Revolution War like Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jeffeson, Alexander Hamilton etc:
Well I will base my answer on these catagories economy, foriegn policy, technology, human rights, culture (morales and ethical) and I hope that will help you with your answer.

1. Economy- Well I believe the only one who could really understand the logic of todays economy with the technology advancements we have made would be Alexander Hamilton. Being he was one of the founding members of the Treasurey Department. I think he would be dissappointed yet optimistic. Being that he was a conservative, he would not agree with the money we spend on other countries. The budgets that are set and broken. The finacial strain that the goverment puts on big buisness is not what he believed in because he thought, and well pretty much what I think, big buiness = jobs. Thomas Jefferson probably disagree saying that we need to focus on small buisness. Though I think both would be looking at the times as both more jobs are being created everyday. Jefferson would probably grade us at a C- and Hamilton would probably give us a B, respectfully.
2.Foriegn Policy- Ben Franklin would be the specialist in this department followed closely by Thomas Jefferson. I would first say that they would probably be overwhelmed by the intricate matters of today. We have bombs that can wipe out entire countries, Hitler like regimes, so much to intake that they would be forced to give us an A+ because what our diplomats deal with on a daily basis is far more than dealing with just England and France. I think to them dealing with 186 countries everyday or the policies that we have passed in the past would say that it was the right thing to do and some things appauling but in all that we often did what was right at the time.
3. Human Rights- Once again Ben Frankin would head up this department but followed by Alexander Hamilton would be the better than a George Washington or Thomas Jefferson since Hamilton was a abolitionist and so was Franklin while Washington and Jefferson were slave owners. I think both Hamilton and Franklin would be impressed about how far we've come but know that there is a long way to go!!!!!!!!Franklin a B+ and Hamilton would give a B
4. Technology- This is probably the easiest, without question an A+
5.Culture (morales and ethics)- I would say they would say this is the biggest disappointment of all. Our morales have become estranged from where they once were. Sad to say, we have children homeless, kids shooting each other in the streets, rape, the ineptness of the attitude that a wanting to earn an honest buck has gone down the tubes. Everybody looking fotr the easy buck and such they would probably give us a very generous D-.

Well there is my synopsis on what our for fathers would think of us. Overall here's the grades I think they'd give us;

Ben Franklin=C+
George Washington=D+
Alexander Hamilton =B
Thomas Jefferson=B

They'd be horrified. The United States was founded on the principles of individual liberty, all rights being held by the people with none held by the government and freedom from theocratic tyranny.

I think there would be mixed feelings.
They were more conservative back then...so they'd be apalled at some things society taught them to be wrong, being accepted.
They would probably sympathize, too. It is hard to run a country today and yesterday.
They would not like the war, but who really does?
They also had to be a part to great massacres (civil war )
