are teddy bears girl/boy?

are teddy bears both girl and boy. i feel bad when i dress it up in girl clothed. I KNOW IT ISN'T ALIVE OKAY!!!

The gender is usually assigned by the child. Most of the ones I have known were called boys unless they had girlish characteristics, like girlie clothes or extra long eyelashes or a hair bow. I think that's because a chunky, well-padded bear is more like a man or boy than like a woman as we prefer to think of ourselves: slim and elegant.

teddy bears are not gender specific.. at leaast not unless you give them a gender specific name. my daughter's bear is named Mr. Bear. obviously he will not wear dresses. otherwise everything is fair game.
