You need to go to a department store make-up counter and ask a professional. I'd go to Nordstroms make up like Mac. They will work with you and show you how to apply the make up at no charge. Only buy the basics. Its important to buy the correct foundation, powder and blush. The other items like mascara and shadow could be purchased at a drugstore at a less expensive price. Let the sales consultant match your skin to a foundation which is best for you. Then take it all home and practice!!!! Just remember, LESS IS MORE. Don't over do it. Make up should look natural and should only accentuate your best features. Pick what you like best about your face and accentuate that, play down the rest with subtal colors. Hope that helps. As you can see, I can go on and on about make up.
Wish I was there to do it for you. Good luck

Actually, mineral foundations are great for the look that you want. Minerals do not look like a mask and blend easily with your skin. I suggest Everyday Minerals at everydayminerals.com

for beginners, you need earth tones.
you dont want to look like a model ur first time.
go with light eyeshadow(light browns_whites_light gold)
foundation(go a little darker then your natural tone not to dark just another shade higher so u dont look pale)
and lipgloss/lipstick ( pinks_light reds)
p.s. dont use dark browns for lipstick/gloss
unless your dark.
p.p.s foundation is a stick like lipstick is the best
loreal has the best makeup. and also go with only 1 brand. dont swich (i only use loreal products) if you go with maybelle's lipgloss dont get a foundation for loreal and eyeshadow for rimmel london. stick with one brand.
