Composition

Urochrome is the pigment that gives urine its color. Urea is one of the three nitrogenous waste products. The other two are creatinine and uric acid. Urine also contains various inorganic ions, including sodium and chloride. Lighter urine color usually indicates higher water consumption.

Urine is yellow because of all the waste products that the kidneys filter out of the blood. It also means that you are not drinking enough water; water plays an important part in the kidney's filtering process. If you drink a lot of water, then the kidneys filter more water out of the blood, along with more waste products, making the urine clear-colored. That's why drinking a lot of water is important.
