600,000 dead in Iraq and then this very sensationalist-seeming plane crash into a building that turns out to be a flight piloted by a baseball player or something. I've never really believed in conspiracist theories, but could this be spin? I mean, people are dead, but it seems very convenient as a diversion. Surely it can't be spin?

i agree we live in a country of news spin. but i believe the 600,000 number is the result of some poll which means it is really spin. the plane thing had a yankee pitcher aboard apparently

Just shows where the priority is in News reporting. You can hear them now saying "thank God we have an alternative item we can concentrate on" I mean the people in Britain and America should not be reminded that because of the actions of their leaders over 600,000 people have died in Iraq. I think these figures should be "Headline News" in every paper and on every newscast on television. It"s an absolute disgrace and I hope Tony Blair is questioned on it by someone like Paxman. There is a civil war going on over there and we won"t stop it. Lets get the lads home, not just promise the £2000 bonus as long as the live til Christmas.

The thing is, I've known there were lots of people dead in Iraq for a while. So that 'news' added very little to my world. But I did not know about the plane crash, so that was new and interesting 'news'.

Sorry, that sounds heartless, but my heart has already gone out to those poor people in Iraq...

The Iraqi death count was from interviewing a couple thousand Iraqis and then by multiplying by a fictitious number by another left-leaning Bush-hater. It's worthless in other words, unless you too are a Bush-hater. I suppose Bush had the FBI or CIA send the plane into the building, and will do it daily until after the elections. Damn, how many of you idiots are there anyway?

I don't watch the news that often as I think that it can be a bit upsetting just before going to bed. I regularly listen throughout the day and from the 6 o'clock bulletins

The saddest part about this is that we even think of it as a possibility. Do ya think we trust the government?
