It will all depend on what you pick. All depends on what you're planning to spend too.

You can pick up a used acoustic piano relatively cheap if you look around-- you may get what you pay for too.

A electric piano with JUST piano sounds can likewise be bought for not alot of money. Again, you'll get what you pay for. Cheaper ones will not likely have 88 keys either. Sound quality will be no where near as good as a decent acoustic piano if you buy a cheap digital piano. Some sound decent but still not the same.

Feel/Touch - An acoustic will no doubt be the better feel/touch and control-- if that's important. Inexpensive digital pianos aren't going to have the same volocity sensitivity as a real piano.

Real pianos have to be tuned on a regular basis-- Digitals obviously don't.

Digitals can have interfaces (eaily) with Midi and many can also record in addition to accompanyment.

Size of room/etc. With Digital, you can use headphones. With an accoutic piano-- obviously not. And, a Grand is going to put out some serious sound too. A decent upright will also put out some serious sound.

Good brands on Accoustics
- Baldwin -- lots on the used market too, warmer than most asian pianos
- Petrof - Cheque piano-- I have one-- absolutely great. Medium Warm, really sings
- Kawaii, Yamahas are ok and usually brighter in tone.
- Stay away from Young Change and some other asian brands.

There are tons of good digitals
- Yamaha, Kurzweil,
