The drama club is planning a dinner theater to raise money. They spoke with the caterer, who quoted a one time cost of $130 per performance,plus $8 each patron. ( In other words, if they serve only one person, the charge would be $138 ;for two people the charge would be $146 ($130 +$8 + $8). After talking with students and adults, club members realized that they could set the ticket price no higher than $15 each. ) The auditorium where the drama club will perform can accomodate no more than 80 people.)

Prepare a repot to the drama club, in which you describe the costs and discuss how much money can be made from one performanc. Be sure to indicate the minimum number of tickets that must be sold to pay the catere. Good acounting practice requires that you show all calculations in your report.

I'm no accountant, but I say it pays to stop being lazy and do your own project. How are you gonna learn if someone else does it for you?

Well, I'm only going to help with the math part. you have to do your own report.

The first step for these kind of questions is to set a variable.
In this case,
let x=number of people attending.
let y=money made.
Now,
y=total price made off of tickets minus cost of catering... therefore
y=$15x-($8x+$130)
You can expand this out now. it's really simple.
now, in order to break even, y must equal zero. so, plug in 0 for y, and solve for x. you now have one of your answers.
to find out how much money can be made, substitute 80 in for x, because that's the maximum number of people the auditorium can hold.

Remember that setting up the problem in mathematical terms is always the hardest part. practice makes perfect.

I won't do it for you but I'll give you a start. First figure out your max revenue for the tickets sales. Estimate the max cost for a full house. Work from there.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure this is something you have to do yourself. If you really don't get it, then ask a teacher.
