I recently started high school a few months ago as a freshman. It seems everyday with tests, projects, homework, and dealing with people like gossip and what not, more and more stress is being added to me. ISeeing as how I used to go to a private school and I am now in a public school, this much stress is a new thing. So I know its not healthy to keep that all bottled up inside so any suggestions?

I am aware that this seems too simple,.... but really the only sure way to relieve massive stress is to remove the cause.....simply do less, take on less work drop out of the gossip loop(why concern yourself with other peoples problems and misunderstandings and half truths.....)

Gossip takes your time and mental energy(usually wasted time \energy )

A short walk would be beneficial, just around the block would be fine (before bed if you can )

Go to bed a Little earlier (half an hour or so )

listen to music before sleep, some slower songs ....maybe instrumentals.

A good nights sleep is most important ...

Drink tea or mineral water or just plain water ...never coke or coffee or the like ....

Just s l o w....your life down, you will be better for it , this course of action will take about two or so weeks to work but work it will .....

stress (if not treated)is a step to depression. its a combination of both. the good way to handle are the following-relax your mind even for a minute, by doing this-close your eyes for awhile and think some happy moments that happened to you.,or have a walk, for instance in your place, look around or if you have go to a beach, sit on the sand, let the fresh air touches your skin and smell the freshness of breeze air/ocean.,specially during afternoon.,watch the sunset, the beauty of it and then close you eyes.,if you're not fond of walking and going to beach, try going to mall window shopping, or watch a good funny movie, or talk with a friend that is close to you, a good conversation, talking funny matters with a friend.,or try to be alone in your room, get some sleep and lastly treat yourself (if you have money) a long vacation whichever/whenever you want. ,a good place. of course eat food with good nutrients, vitamins can help a lot. im telling you these, because i did it and it works for me.

When I got out of the military and was given my own department to run in the real world, I was quietly freaking out daily. I had to turn a profit. I had to deal with people in a new way. And I'd just stopped smoking. To help with the stress I bought a bottle of soap bubbles in the toy store. Whenever things got tough, I would step outside with the smokers to blow bubbles. It forces you to slow your breathing. I helps you to relax. You can't blow a bubble if you are stressed.

join a sports team. yeah, that's a stress too. but exercise helps a lot with stress.

also, you need to tell yourself that you're just not going to let the stress get to you. perhaps a lot of this stress is just temporary until you get adjusted to the new situation.

I totally know how you feel!!....School is ssoo stressful!....just try to be as relaxed and layed back as you can....don't slack off...but just reserve time for yourself and still enjoy life....even though school may sometimes bite...you can still be happy....just and if people talk about you ignore it....especially if it's not true...who cares what they think....only you really know...just have some time to yourself....

Yeah, I can remember that very well. I think a lot of physical activity helps. it gets out frustration that may not otherwise be expressed, and it also helps to be extremely organized!
