In the 1700's Why did parliment pass the intolerable acts.

it's actually called the toleration act, passed in 1688. It makes freedom of religion official in Britain and its then colonies.

The Intolerable Acts, as Americans call them, were passed to
A) defray the costs of defending the colonies and their beaurcracies after the French-Indian War
and
B) to punish the colonists for what Parliment saw as lawless and rebellious acts against the Crown
