Unthinking, knee-jerk, not supported by facts, just random negative spew... how has it become so prevalent recently? And what does it say about the perpetrators?

You obviously ain't from 'round here. It gets ugly from both sides. As an occasional instigator, I should know.

People have acted this way forever. I say this because it occurred to me that only a very small percentage of people on this forum are over 35 years old. When I was born, Reagan was president and I remember my mom ranting at the TV back then.

My guess is, you're around my age, I'm 26, and you're only in the last few years serious about politics. So, now you hear the insanity ;)

Oh, I guess I should say that I am liberal...and so was my mom. As much as I want to smack some conservatives, It is passion that drives the spewing. I'd rather battle well informed, educated conservatives who simply have the same passion and also a difference of opinion than have a country full of lazy @$$holes who could care less about their country.

Also, we now have the Internet where you can be a total psycho and no one will know who you are...

Good for you for being aware of the 'spewing'!

It's crazy. I never thought of labeling myself as anything because I feel I am a free thinker not bound by any group or religion . My ideology is t "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". My point being, as I looked up what a liberal was in the dictionary, because people use these terms so freely and I do not think most people actually know what they are talking about. Anyway the def. of liberal as an adj. is -suitable for a free man, generous, bountiful; not literal; not narrow in opinion or judgment; tolerant, not orthodox; not conservative. As a noun, a Liberal is a person who holds liberal views. So I thought to myself, I would be proud to call myself a liberal. So , it is not surprising according to the definitions that the conservative people are less tolerant , opposed to change and trying to maintain their existing views; hence they spew out crap.

Because they deserve it.
Liberals have sold out the USA. They worry about our treatment of terrorists.
They betray us.
They want our taxes raised.
They want us to be a Socialist Nation like the old Soviet Union.
Democrats should move to North Korea for awhile and see how well they really like Socialism.
Good Question. Thank you.
But it is intelligent hatred; not dumb hatred sprewed at the commie pinko liberals.

Why does a bully tease kids at school? Republicans have, for 6 years now, singlehandely ruined this country. Democrats are seeking international peace as well as homeland security. Republicans probably dont even know what diplomacy is. Republicans must realize that we all live in this world together, and therefore we all need to get along, so of course we need to worry about how terrorists are treated (quote from an answer from above). Think about it...If we are at peace with terrorists, that means no war, which in turn means, less money spent...which means less national debt...it all equals out...but obviously reps. cannot see that, so they hate and bash dems. for it. Republicans are one track, closed minded thinkers...so that is why.

Many are close-minded and afraid of anything or anyone that is different. So most will 'spew' anything that will show their hatred for different thinkers.

Agree or disagree, being open-minded is the key to getting along.
Don't hate.

The people saying those things only want their opinions reinforced, not challenged. I've seen it from both sides, but definitely more from Conservatives (on this forum). I think it just proves that their 'position' is automatic; they don't really have a viewpoint of their own. If they did, they would be able to defend it when it came under criticism.

Greetings!

We have evolved into a nation of hate. Aside from relinquishing free speech, we have given up on free thinking. Having been around in the sixties, I assure you the youth then, and would not now stand for this.
It can only stop with term limits and parliamentary government to represent ALL the people.

Good Luck
Remember Kent State!

Massive wealth redistribution
Budget-busting entitlement programs
Dismal public education
Non-stop attacks on God
Sycophantic fawning over brutal dictators
Kill, kill, kill the fetus - but try to outlaw capital punishment

...I'd say much of the hatred is justified. And surely you don't believe that liberals harbor no hatred of conservatives.
