I make 5 dollars over minimum wage. I live 45 minutes from my work I have daycare and the bills. I never have extra money and I'm always behind on bills. IF not overdrafting my account. What is the point in working a higher paying job if I can't get anywhere??? Wouldn't it be easier to work at wendys and collect foodstamps?

No- but if you go back to school and get a few years of college under your belt, you would be able to get a job that pays higher. It might not be fantastic, but its better than nothing. that or you can find a job closer to home. Cut back on your bills if possible. Things like cell phone, call waiting, cable movie channels, those are things not needed, just wanted. You can save money if you try. But dont get on the system.. You think you have no money now?? Try getting on aid and having the same bills you currently have and try to pay those!

Just because things are financially difficult for you right now, doesn't mean they will always be difficult. At minimum wage, there are programs that can help you considerably with your child care needs. There are also programs to help you with housing costs as well as food stamps.

Welfare isn't an answer. You make it sound like you can just go on welfare for the rest of your life, which simply isn't true. If you're only making a little more than minimum wage, surely you must be able to find a job much, much closer to where you live.

I know it's difficult sometimes, but don't give up. Things will turn around for you if you hang in there.

It makes me so mad when people go on welfare when they are capable of working but are just lazy. I work 40 hours a week and I drive an hour to get there but I would like to have some pride and not have to use other peoples money to live on.♥ No offense but it makes me so mad, there are people out there who really need it and you people who can work use it all up.

That depends on what state. You can't quit your job or get fired for incompetence(?) etc. You would have to apply for unemployment and exhaust your benefits etc. It isn't that simple uno. I feel for you, it's not fair and housing is usually the biggest expense. You should think of shared housing somewhere.
