i have a mobile home that has a large portion of floor rotting out around the back door and laundry room. the previous tenants let the washing machine overflow many times. the floor began to rot. it is or feels like particle board soft and mushy and you can feel the 2 by 4's under it. i want to replace it with treated 3/4 plywood. i need to know how to make it nice and seamless as possible and how to make it airtight.

The last time I repaired flooring in a trailer, I discovered that they use an oddball thickness, like 1 1/4". If you do take it down to the joists, and they are wood, you could nail new ones to the old at a height that will let the patch be smooth with the old. We were able to cut out the damaged floor and turn it upside down.

Do your tear out first, determine everything you need before you head to the lumber yard,
You'll need sheet stock 4x8-3./4" CCA TG ply As someone else mentioned mobile home manufacturers play by a different set of rules, if the sub floor is 1-1/4" you'll need to put the 3/4 CCA down with a piece of 1/2" CCA.

you will likely need to check your floor joists for rot and replace as necessary, better bet is to buy some 2x12's that you can span underneath 16" on center.

If you only have to replace the subfloor rot, use the old junk as a pattern to cut if possible or measure and cut your replacement piece(s).

If you intend to put the Washer dryer back in that area, put down some cement backerboard down on top of the sub floor before you put tile down. You'll need some joint cement (thin set portland to seam the joints.).

Then Lino or Tile

PROBABLY BEYOND YOUR LIMITS, BUT GET EVERYTHING OUT, CUT OUT FLOOR USING CIRCULAR SAW, BLADE SET JUST A TAD MORE THAN 3/4", CHECK JOISTS & SCAB ON NEW ONES NEXT TO OLD IF THE SEEN ROTTEN OR DEFLECTING, COVER FLOOR NEW PLYWOOD, GET STURDY FLOOR ( NO VOIDS) YOU DONT NEED MARINE PLYWOOD, CAULK JOINTS... SOMEWHERE IN THERE CHECK YOUR INSULATION & SEE IF THE BOTTOM BLEW OUT OF THE TRAILER & FIX THAT TOO! GOOD LUCK!

Glue it down with construction adhesive and then use deck screws to secure it. Make sure the 2X4 supporting lumber is good, if not replace those as well.

Go to either Lowe's or Home Depot and ask them when they have their classes to teach about flooring. They will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know and they sell everything you'll need right there.

the last answer is good but you'll also need insulation and weather proofing
