Whitewater is just water racing over rocks, and so it has air bubbles in it that reflect light better than plain water without the air. Whitewater rafting is a blast! If you like rollercoasters, you'll love rafting. If you like skiing fast, or sledding, or zooming around on a jetski or motorcycle, you'll like rafting.

If you're not sure about it, though, find an outfitter that can take you on a river with mostly class 3 rapids. These are fun, but don't necessarily scare you to death, or throw you out of the raft. Class 5 are the biggest you can usually raft. Some rivers may have only 1 or 2 class 5, and then only when the water flow is very heavy and fast, like in the spring.

Good luck, and give it a try!

White water is just water moving very fast over rocks, so getting stirred up in to a foam.

White water rapids is actually water moving very fast and trying to go up hill. If you drained a river you would see where the rapids are is where is starts to go up.
