Complain to the manager of Claire's about the crummy job and demand a refund. Show the manager the crappy job before you let the holes heal. Have the receipt from the piercing on hand so they can't say that you got it done somewhere else.
If you get nowhere from that angle, write a letter of complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
As for the healing question, things should close up completely in just a couple of weeks.

It'll probably heal up in about a month. You should go to a professional piercer in the future because ear piercing guns cannot be sterilized, so you could get a really bad infection. Also piercing guns cause a lot more trauma to the area and you get much more scar tissue. Trust me, getting it done with a needle hurts a lot less, because I've had my ears pierced both ways before.

As far as I know, you should keep the earrings in for at least 6 weeks. When the holes are new, they are more likely to start growing together more quickly. After the first 6 weeks, then you should wear a post type earring for at least 6 months.

I'm not sure they ever go away. I got mine pierced about 25 years ago and even though i don't wear earrings regularly, the holes are still there. Sorry

Depends on how well you heal. I didn't wear earings for over a year and my holes didn't heal but my sister went three weeks and they closed up immediately! You'll just to wait and see!

It may never go way. I had my ears pierced twice and did not wear earrings for years. Then about eight years later only one set of holes grew over.

the hole spot will be there but they will close i would wait at least 2 months before attempting to pierce again just to be sure that they are healed

If you don't use the holes they will grow back together shortly.

I had that happen too, and the next time I had them repierced, I
marked them myself. They turned out fine!

good luck
