Is it possible to burn DVD movies to 8X DVD media using 4X DVD burner? What will the result be?

8X is just the maximum possible with that media. Burning at slower speeds in fine, and wont cause any problems.

The only problem is that you won't be able to burn the dvd with 8X speed, just 4X max. A 8X DVD means you can write with max 8X speed on that dvd without any problems (meaning if something appears you can go and change it for no extra charge).

Yep...should have no problem...8X media simply means that you can burn at UP TO that speed and everything below it (including your 4X)...

a) your burner will automaticly burn at 4 x not 8 x
but its best to burn a large amount of data at 2 x you will get a better result
