I'm glad you are having a girl because I had 3 boys. We live in Calif. and it does bite because all my boys were between 6weeks and 3 months to get circumcised because the doctors kept canceling I kept calling other clinics anywhere to hurry up and get it done. My 1st boy was $175 and the 2nd was $295 and the 3rd was $345. One place I tried to get into said they wouldn't do it till the baby was 1 YEAR old and it cost $1200 That was crazy!!!

My ob did my sons circ at the hospital before we went home. He is now 6 months old and is doing fine. I saw the circ and it was very quick and he didn't cry at all. He didn't even make a peep. I think this is a very personal choice and should be treated as such. I don't believe the question was if they should do it or not but why don't they do it at the hospital and why isn't it covered by insurance. Mine was covered by insurance. I think medicade does cover it.
I am so sick of people using scare tactics like videos and photos to steer people away. It is a very personal decision and should be made on an individual basis. What ever happened to respecting other peoples decisions.
I have a brother who is not and a brother who due to complications (skin growing over the entire penis) had to be at age 3!
Make your own decison and stick to it. Offer advice or opinions when asked. Otherwise just shut up!

suicide isn't the respond. you ought to discover a solid team of positive friends. there glbta communities on the internet and in cities and cities you may connect. you will discover others who're dealing with comparable circumstances with their households, or maybe in the experience that your mothers and dads won't replace their minds over night, having a base of friends will make it extra handy for you. in time your mothers and dads will the two comprehend which you're and consistently would be their toddler, and that they are going to love you for that, or you will discover a thank you to get alongside regardless. absolute worst case state of affairs, in the event that they arrive to a call they don't prefer you of their lives as you're, you deserve extra effective than that. you need to be surrounded by using affection and not by using hate, notably over some thing you may't administration. seek for out a solid base, consult with friends, and bypass from there. in basic terms save respiratory. on a daily basis is probability to start anew.

I think it's ridiculous and barbaric that parents think they have the right to cosmetically modify their perfect infant, causing pain, scarring, and exposing them to all the dangers of any surgery in the immediate and severe loss of function and pleasure in the longterm.
It's no mystery why they can't market Viagra well outside the U.S. We have the highest circumcision rate in the world. Circumcision causes erectile dysfunction later in life -- on average, circumcized men start experiencing problems nearly a decade sooner than intact men.
I think it's insane that parents choose to have their sons circumcized without ever researching the risks, watching a circ video beforehand, and being in the room with their baby during the surgery. Talk about turning a willfully blind eye to the unecessary pain and mutilation they're putting their child through.

I have a son who still hasn't been circumsized, because Medicaid will not pay for it. My son is 5 months old. Hopefully, we will be able to get it done soon. My husband just got a better job, so maybe we will be able to do it.
Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have any insurance at all, but I think what really makes me mad it the dental service. There is hardly no one to work on your teeth and your teeth are considered cosmetic, too. Now I have a lot of missing teeth, because I could not afford to get my teeth done right. Like I said before I'm very greatful for the state insurance, because I know what it is like to go without it.

I think its really crazy that they won't circumcise your boy when he is born in the hospital when the governments of the world, including the US government are paying millions to circumcise african men to prevent aids. Why do they pay for African men to be circumcised and not our own children?
Try this link and click on the video:
http://www.kaisernetwork.org/health_cast/hcast_index.cfm?display=detail&hc=1802
It shows the most recent circumcision information on aids.
This link is a bit graphic, but shows the kind of infections a boy can get from not being circumcised:

and this video has some good overall info:

I had my sons circumcised after my youngest brother had tons of problems with his foreskin and needed to be circumcised!
Your son will be okay if you don't circumcise, but it is much easier on a baby and its a good preventative step to future problems!
Lots of love,

You are lucky your having a girl. I had twin boys and there is no double discount for two circumcisions. And I don't understand why insurance doesn't pay... I understand they can live without being circumcised but it should be your choice whether or not you want it done. It was $500 up front to get my boys circumcised.

We chose not to have our son circumcised however they did offer to do it at the hospital and the OB is the one to perform the procedure. Maybe this varies from hospital to hospital or state to state but this is how it was done at our hospital? But yes, if we had wanted to have it done I would have been annoyed to have to make a special trip to another dr. to have it done.

All I know is that we're covered for our sons birth, my care, postnatal care, cicumcision, and they do it right in the room next to my bed, so he's not even out of my sight.
My friend had a son and had no insurance, but hers was done in the hospital in her room the day after delivery, they are still paying off the bill.

Some hospitals still do the circumcision before your child leaves the hospital. They did my son in June when he was born. We live in Minnesota. When I did ask about it (I overheard a guy making a fuss because he was told it wasn't covered by his state aid)I was told that the reason it is no longer covered by state insurance is because it is considered a cosmetic sugary and is not medically necessary. My husband's insurance through his work did cover a portion of the cost.
