You do not need to tell your current employer anything. When I left my last job they asked where I was going to, and I said that I'd rather not say. It is a common question to see if you are possibly leaving for a competitor, but is a voluntary answer. If it is in the same industry, just make sure that you don't have any disclouser agreements signed just in case you are not allowed to discuss the company's to one another.

It depends on how badly you distrust your currently employer. If you really distrust them and don't what them to know where your moving too than just say "I haven't pick a place yet." or Say "Some where close to X but I not sure just where yet." If you need to give someone a address there are places you rent a box and then have the mail reshipped to you.

You are under no obligations to give your current boss your future plans. If you have signed an agreement with your current boss not to move to a competitive company then you are in default to that agreement and can be sued. Otherwise go where you choose and enjoy your new job.

"I would like to keep the info private" sounds sketchy. Don't forget that you could run into these people again. Tell them you're looking to get into consulting, or aren't 100% certain yet.. etc.

It's no one's business but your own. Too often I've seen plans scuttled because the cat got out of the bag too soon.
Good luck in your new job.

I think that's a perfectly good answer. It's a personal, private decision, and you'd like to keep it that way.
Sounds to me like you don't owe them much of anything anyway.

I would just tell them that you are moving on to a better position, and leave it at that.
