a slow worm
Lives in southern UK and Europe

It about 10-12 " long
(finger width )
grey green in colour
very shy
( it will slither away, very quickly if the stone is moved .)

It does a useful job in the garden
(eats slugs snails and woodlice etc)

it is completely harm-less :)

the slow worm ---
is not a worm
or a snake
The slow worm is a leg-less lizard

I am always pleased to see them in my garden ,
they are quite rare these days

Probably "sow bugs"!, but maybe, if it's a big rock that was put on top of grass, you might find grass. It will still be green, but be "smashed" if the rock hasn't been on it long. It will be yellow if the rock has been on it a long time. If it's a very long time, then there will be no grass. Possibly ants or worms. snails maybe under the side of the rock. Oh yeah, and dirt!
