The computation of Pi is virtually the only topic from the most ancient stratum of mathematics that is still of serious interest to modern mathematical research. The value of pi has been known in some form since antiquity. Three parts: a) What civilization was the first known civilization to have used pi? b) What value (fraction) did this civilization calculate pi as? c) What is the current record for the number of decimal digits of pi?

The Greeks were the first to conceive of pi, it is also known as Archimedes' Constant.

I'm not sure the value that was used by the Ancient Greeks, but i know it was instrumental in Euclidean Geometry.
