its a long distance call if that has anything to do with it

you might want to consider that he is using a phone that he does not want you to know the number of. if you dial *67 before dialing the actual number, you will get the "unknown" message. so it might be him but he is most likely not using his personal phone.

If he is not using *67 then it should not come thru private or unknown. However, each call is placed from different towers and the tower that is being used at that point and time might not be compatable with your network for the caller id

true on the *67 - it will show up as unknown. But if he's calling back from his voicemail (like the option to return a call upon listening to a message) that will show up as PRIVATE.

This sounds like a routing issue. He might be calling you from a Low Coverage area, and the tower that he calls of off cannot fully recognize the info from his SIM card.

judging by your question youre in a longdistance relationship, which never do really work out.but anyways, maybe hes just checking up on you to see how you answer the phone, or simply just to give you a surprise.and if its not that then maybe your service provider isnt among the best, not that any of them are.but yeah hope that was helpful!!!

call the cell company that issues your phone and ask them. or ask the boyfriend. God bless you!
