It really is best to start yourself; to a horse the camera lens look like a giant eye and can freak them out - especially with a long lens. If your horse trusts you he'll soon pick up that the camera means extra fuss and attention. That will teach him to relax when he's being photographed instead of staring at the camera like its going to eat him.
Plus he's more likely to behave naturally around you. Get some good everyday shots of him in his field, and relaxed; not just posed for a photographer. They always mean more to you later.

I'm an armature photographer and I have taken photo's of my mums horses and other animals including my own birds and dogs. The only problem is I live in West Yorkshire. Where do you live.

if you live in the middle Tennessee area and want a professional picture done of your horse contact Jack Greene, it'll cost some money but he does great photos

If you go to a big show in your area they take pics of the riders so you can ask them to come to your house and take pics of your horse.
