I've been assigned the honour of designing the front cover of our school yearbook, published in June. Every year, the cover design is fantastic, and unique to the year whilst remaining relative to our local area here in Ireland. For the past few years, since the manga style of drawing became popular, the cover has been an animated illustration, but I'm thinking it's time for a change.
I've decided that I'm going to draw a still of one of our students , in our compulsary black, white and red uniform, posing in one way or another (from a photo). Any ideas as to what pose might be different and create an interesting image?
I was thinking of a shot taken from above of one of the girls sitting on the floor, cross legged, surrounded by CDs, a laptop and iPod. But that kinda sucks. Other thoughts? Any suggestion is welcome!

Well, do the same thing that Writers do. Just start drawing or painting or whatever kind of art you. Just do scribble scrabble for a while. It doesn't even have to look like anything or be that good. Just by getting your senses flowing again will help you come up with new ideas. Just sit down with some paper in front of you and just start doodling to get your creativity juices flowing. Hopefully this works. It's always worked with me when I've gotten writer's block. Good luck!

take a picture of someone from behind, jumping with a backpack flying up, suspended by it's straps, and have him/her throw books into the air. Motions shots are cool, it'll take a while to get the perfect shot. I was the yearbook editor/designer my last year in highschool. It can be hellish and stressful when coming up with the perfect thing for the cover, but have fun with it, don't be afraid to take risks, and the right design will come. Good luck!

I think your idea is kind of cool. Would certainly be different! A unique perspective. Your first instinct is usually what you should go with. Don't doubt yourself. Have fun with it!

Good luck.

I think you have a nice idea ... though, if it's for a school yearbook, it might be appropriate for some of the 'stuff' around her to have SOMETHING to do with school ;-)
