Cell phone numbers in Germany?

I understand that to call from America...you need to dial 011+49+ the cell phone. How many digits are there remaining after the initial 011+49?

They number of digits may differ from old phone numbers to new phone numbers.
Just don't forget to leave out any initial 0 after the country code 49 in the German cell phone number, when calling from America.
So if the German number would be for example 0160 12345678, you've got to call 011 49 160 12345678 from the States.
